Newcastle City won the postponed round 7 match against Lake Macquarie last night and moved a game clear of the teams in third, fourth & fifth spot.
In wet conditions, the Blues were able to open up a four goal lead at the first break and pulled away to lead at half time by 47 points.
Mitch Clune and Steve Renehan were best for the Crows whilst Mitch Knight continued his good form to move to favourite for the Elliott-Davey Medal. He was well supported, by acting captain Mark Wheeler and Tom Hunt.
Owen Dawes made a quick recovery from his leg injury on Saturday to boot another five goals.

Newcastle City play Gosford this Saturday, Lake Macquarie host Terrigal Avoca and top of the ladder Cardiff travel to Wyong Lakes.
