The league have again been handed the 'poor relation' title when it comes to selection in the NSW Country State Team.
Liam Gibson (Cardiff), City's Mitch Knight together with Angus Darling and Jayson Van Dam from the Terrigal Avoca Club were all selected in the training squad resulting in the BDAFL's second place performance in Wagga last month.
None of these were chosen in the final NSW team which will contest the 2010 Landmark Australian Country Football Carnival in Canberra this weekend.
Strangely, the NSW side is mostly made up of players who did not compete in Wagga but includes five who were part of the victorious Sydney Under 23 Team which won the COUNTRY carnival over the BDAFL.
Three were selected from the two teams which played off for third and fourth place, one of whom is captain.
This type of scenario was similar to that of 2006 when the BDAFL won the Wagga carnival but only had two, Angus Darling and Clint Austerberry, eventually selected in the NSW team - and this after much behind the scenes encouragement from local officials.
History will show that both performed extremely creditably in the National Carnival.
As league president, Steve Smith, would say, "Whats knew?"
